Uber Ties up with ItzCash to Target Tier II & Tier III Cities

On-demand mobility solutions providers have garnered a lot of attention in the past 5 years. Many companies have managed to grab their share of the market via incorporating digital payment innovations and offers on the platform. However, their presence has been limited only to the major cities. Uber in conjecture with ItzCash is gunning to change the scenario.

With so many on demand mobility solutions providers looking to penetrate the market, partnerships and expansion are bound to be the new name of the game. A couple of months back, Uber was all over the news – mostly for the wrong reasons. However, leaving behind the controversies, the company is now looking to take giant strides in expanding their brand reach to the smaller cities in the country. Amidst all the legal fracas, Uber’s credibility of being a job creator will be tested for sure. However, it will the company’s commitment to the cause of expansion that will prevail. Uber is also looking to get new drivers on-board via providing them banking services. And, in an attempt to leave no stone unturned to ace the market, the company has tied up with the digital payments solution provider ItzCash Card to reach the tier II & tier III towns. As per the partnership, Uber will be working closely with ItzCash regional sales teams to train shop owners and small travel agents on how to introduce Uber to potential consumers who may be unfamiliar with or hesitant to adopt new technologies. The development will be prove to be a huge boost for both the parties involved. In a bid to reach the farther fetched corners of the country, Uber will be expanding the payment options on their mobile app. The move will allow semi-urban Indians to avail Uber services on demand. ItzCash will be working in tandem to provide digitized payment solutions for the same cause. ItzCash is among the most trusted payment solution providers for Travel business owing to its 75,000+ pan-India network of retail touch points. These touch points – called ItzCash World outlets play host to a day-in day-out influx of thousands of customers for enquiries and facilitating transactions. On the other hand, Uber has a large number of global drivers, but, they are still looking to hire a larger fleet to handle customer demand. Uber is looking to leverage ItzCash’ touch points to build deeper engagement with a wider audience. The partnership is mainly focused on devising solutions for cities and towns that come under T2-T4 section.

Speaking about the development, Uber India’s President Amit Jain said, “This partnership will go a long way in helping us engage with millions of underserved commuters as we expand into smaller cities in India.” Naveen Surya, MD, ItzCash also spoke at lengths about the development, he added, “The Tier 2 and 3 cities and SEC B, C segments will make up the next 500 million consumers for the sharing economy, Uber has been at the forefront of the sharing economy revolution in India.
