“Linguify will provide a single integrated app for multiple languages”
1. Explain to us Linguify. Mobile. What is the idea behind this launch?
Mobile applications meant to be used by Consumer are currently available in India only in English. This is true across Banking, Insurance, E-Commerce and Social media. The phone model itself may be available to support languages other than English but the application itself is not Multi Lingual. Linguify.Mobile addresses this gap by providing a language platform which translates Mobile applications into any language without requiring access (or change) to the Application source code or database. Launching Quikr and Yepme in Hindi is an example of how Linguify.Mobile can increase the reach to mobile application users across industries.
In a diverse multilingual country where millions access the internet from their mobile phones, we aimed to come up with a solution which can give mobile app users freedom to communicate, browse and shop in their own preferred language. By introducing Linguify.Mobile, we are confident of making this the de-facto standard for application language localization across all industry verticals.
2. How do you think this will redefine the use of local language in a mobile/PC?
Translating any application is never easy. It requires complete refactoring of the source code, getting the translations, carrying out language testing and application lifecycle management for multiple languages. Mobile application also has to go through continuous functionality improvements, and this makes it even harder to providing language support.
With our approach of localisation of apps will save the hassle for customers to download one app again and again for other language preference, Linguify will provide a single integrated app for multiple languages.
Linguify’s innovative method is based on several patent pending technologies. It is trusted by more than 150 enterprise customers.
As internet and mobile applications penetrate the “masses” across many emerging countries, Linguify.Mobile can allow any type of application to be made available to people across language barriers.
LinguaNext, in a true sense, is allowing democratization of software for the masses who could not otherwise access applications for dearth of specific language skills applicable only to professionals.
3. How many languages does the software support?
Number of languages is not a restriction here. It can support world’s any language.
4. Your current tie up is with leading names from fashion etail and online classifieds. Do you plan to power more eCommerce apps?
Yes, Sure. Our technology is ready for the kind of set up it requires for eCommerce apps. We will also use the same technology to power Applications such as Mobile banking, SMS and others.
5. You are the game changer in software applications in language management platforms. For a fairly nascent company to gain such a market size is remarkable. Key insights that helped you reach here?
There are two things that we have always done and will continue to focus on for growing LinguaNext. First and foremost is to understand the true need for Language in the IT market. Language needs differ by country and hence a global approach of “one size fits all” does not work. You have get local to understand the “locals”. The market sense we have for India is that every single consumer of information is by default Bi-Lingual, in other words, they speak 2 or more languages in the course of their day. Published figures and official data clearly show that across India preference for Hindi and other regional languages is at 70+% and the remaining is in English. This figure increases to 85+% if the top metros are not considered. Our hypothesis is that as Mobiles, Internet, Information applications continue to expand their reach beyond the metros, a key aspect for success is going to be availability of these applications in the user’s non-English native language. We have identified similar market needs for Japan, Middle East and other parts of the world.
The second aspect is to understand Technology trends, develop the right Intellectual Property (Products and related Patents) to address the market needs identified. A lot is going in the world of Information Technology. However, our belief is that top technology companies would always develop software solutions that are geared for Global (or English language) needs. Our philosophy is to come from the side of the Local Market, Local individual user and fill the gaps to make the global applications usable for them.
6. You are also in talks with Nationalised/ Pvt Banks to provide ATM transaction in local languages. Tell us more, what happening on that front?
Using our solutions, ATMs will be able to offer transaction slips in local languages to the customers. We are in active discussions with various banks. These are at different stages, some we are carrying out proof of concept and with some, we are in commercial discussions.
7. What are your future plans?
Future plans are to continue to extend our presence in India and also grow our international markets. Extending partnerships with global companies for Language localization, continuing to invest in building a strong Language Technology portfolio and Striving to increase our market reach are the top 3 priorities for the company.
