Apple has been a leader in terms of dishing out the latest technology and trying new innovations in their products. Taking things a giant step further, Apple had some key announcements to make at its launch event in San Francisco. Amidst all the hula hoopla surrounding the launch & Apple fans watching it on live streaming across the globe, Apple CEO Tim Cook kicked things off in style. The rumors surrounding the announcements were mainly focused on the latest upgrades to its iconic iPhone smartphone range. However, the Apple management team along with guest speakers from longtime arch-rivals Microsoft had a lot of things in store. More than 6,500 press journalists, tech analysts, employees at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium was joined by a large audience watching around the world as the latest Apple Launch story unfolded. Here’s a glance at the announcements.
iPad Pro & Apple Pencil

Yes, the iPad just got larger. The new iPad Pro sits pretty on a 12.9 inch screen & carries a screen resolution of 2732×2048 pixels. And, it got a little speedier too. The iPad Pro runs on an A9X chip, making it 1.8 times faster than the iPad Air 2. The battery runtime for Pro is up to 10 hours and it will be available in 32GB and 128GB models with 4G. Do you remember, Steve Jobs mentioning the stylus some 7-8 years ago? Jobs took a lot of smack at it. After all those years & banter, Apple has unveiled the Apple Pencil – a pixel-precise input device with almost no latency. The Apple Pencil costs $99 & the iPad Pro will be compatible with the pencil. Users can now also opt for a full-sized Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro at $169.
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

The majority in attendance and several across the globe were waiting with a bated breath for the announcements with regards to 6s and 6s Plus. And, Apple did not disappoint. Along with the addition of a new ‘Rose Gold’ color, the new iPhones will also feature 3D Touch. Changes have been made in the camera department too. The new smartphones from the house of Apple come decked with 12 megapixels iSight camera that can film 4K video. And for the selfie lover, both the new phones carry a 5 megapixels FaceTime camera. 3D Touch (a pressure sensitive screen) has been added to recognize gentle and forceful touches & do different things on the phone. 3D Touch can be used to more quickly preview images.
Apple has indicated that they are going to take huge strides in terms of making TV, the next big category for the company. Tim Cook announced several upgrades to the Apple TV like Voice Search, Touch Surface Remote Control, Apple Music and an App Store. Apple TV will feature a new OS called tvOS. The top half of the remote will feature a glass touch surface with a sophisticated and stylized look. For connectivity, the new Apple TV will have Ethernet, HDMI and Bluetooth 4.0. Siri on Apple TV will also be able to deliver sports scores, weather etc. The device will also come with gaming apps like Galaxy on Fire and Guitar Hero, and Shadowmatic. “Our vision for TV is simple and perhaps a little provocative. We believe the future of television is apps”, emphasized Tim Cook. A performance by the hit American pop rock band, One Republic closed the curtains on the Apple Launch Event.
