Aditya Birla Group Launches Startup Program

“The last 10% it takes to launch something takes as much energy as the first 90%.” – Rob Kalin, co-founder of Etsy

New and innovative startups are entering the Indian market with each passing day. Some might be lacking the financial backing. However, the innovation and thought process of some can be deemed as a sure-shot future success. With a mission of providing an apt launchpad for the startups, the Aditya Birla Group has announced the launch of Aditya Birla Bizlabs. The startup program is designed to serve as a launchpad for startups. Working on an application basis, startups from the retail, finance and mobile sectors can apply for the program. The news can be termed as the industry bigwigs opening up to the power of increasing startups in India. Leading from the front, one of the biggest companies in the country, Aditya Birla Group is looking to collaborate with startups through Bizlabs. The announcement comes close on the heels of Tata Group launching a similar program some months back.

The 20 day program will provide the budding entrepreneurs with an opportunity to network and discuss the trends & challenges in the startup industry. The selected applicants will have access to the CEOs and various senior executives from the Aditya Birla Group. Along with the premier ABG Lifestyle and electronics brands, the program will be powered by different technological platforms through collaborations with other companies. With E-commerce players like Flipkart and Snapdeal already steering ahead in the race against the traditional pioneers, the program seems to be a cautious move implemented by the group. Via the 20 day startup program, selected startups also have a chance to enter the big league by entering into a commercial arrangement with Aditya Birla Group.

Speaking about the program, Dev Bhattacharya, Group Executive President, Aditya Birla Group, said, “Our objective at Aditya Birla Bizlabs is to enable the combination of the technology and ingenuity of the startup ecosystem with the power and reach of the group’s businesses to create a platform to foster growth and rapidly scale-up businesses. We are excited with the prospect of working with startups on a collaborative platform.”

The last date of applying for the program is 2nd of September, 2015 after which no applications will be entertained. Interested start-ups can apply for the program via this link,
